Tuition fees - what a mess! So how do we get out of it? What's the solution?

Students are planning another day of protest against plans to raise university tuition fees in England, and there are huge differences to the way students are funded in different parts of the UK.

Politically, it's no better. The Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, says all Liberal Democrat ministers will back the Tories and vote in favour of the controversial plan on Thursday, even though the party promised not to raise tuition fees before the election.
