After the death of his wife, George, a man in his 80s, decides to honour her memory by placing a bench at the bus stop. George is lonely and is glad to talk about his wife, Edna, to a teenager he befriends at the bus stop. The boy, Dylan, is also suffering grief and guilt after the death of his young sister.

Dylan is angry and after breaking up with his girlfriend he scratches his sister's name on the bench next to the plaque placed there by George. This vandalism upsets George but the furious row that follows lets both be honest about their feelings and eventually creates an understanding between them.
