CBSO - Weir, Mahler

Presented by Catherine Bott. The CBSO under Andris Nelsons perform Mahler's Symphony No 5 - as part of a complete cycle - and Judith Weir's Shakespeare-inspired Storm.

Presented by Catherine Bott.

Continuing their Mahler Cycle at the Symphony Hall, conductor Andris Nelsons with his City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra offer their rendition of the Austrian composer's Symphony No. 5 - a tale of life and death, from the opening harrowing funereal trumpet solo, to the very last reassuring chords. First though, Judith Weir's Shakespeare-inspired Storm, performed by the very choir and conductor who premiered it back in 1997.
