Later in the programme, as Ray Wilkins is sacked mid-contract by Chelsea, Phil asks listeners "Have you been sacked, half way through a job?". This is one of our favourite responses:
"In the 1980s I had my dream job in the Manchester United executive suite. I was in my early 20s and very silly. It was halfway through the season....and there were these lovely plates with the club crest on. I was tempted....and stole a plate.However I forgot to take my bag home...and had to go back...it was waiting for me in the Old Trafford club secretary's office. I walked in to find the plate sitting by the bag. You can imagine their faces. They said "don't EVER come back here again.
