What's the big deal with coming out? Nicky Campbell takes your calls.

According to a government survey, three quarters of a million people in the UK say they're gay or bisexual. That's just 1.5 per cent of the population - much lower than previous government figures, which in the past have been as high as seven percent.

Ben Summerskill from the gay equality charity Stonewall say the real figure is higher but people are still reluctant to be openly gay.

Matthew Todd from Attitude Magazine, which has recently looked at mental health problems among gay men, says some are too scared to be seen buying the magazine, so we'll never be able to work out the exact size of the UK's gay population.

Nigel Owens, the Welsh international rugby referee, came out three years ago. He tells Nicky there's been no stigma attached to him coming out at all, and it relieved a lot of stress he'd experienced from hiding his sexuality.
