A US Congress committee has agreed a ban on new oil and gas drilling licences for companies with poor safety records, which would prevent BP from drilling any new wells in US waters.

The bosses of some of Britain's top energy companies are meeting with the government today to press the case for nuclear.

Figures out from China show that growth in the world's third biggest economy is slowing down.
