Scarlett reaches breaking point in her bid to keep Theresa away from Bob, but how far will she go to get her sister out of their lives for good?
Scarlett is horrified to learn that Theresa's bought a stake in Bob's garage, and sets out to raise money to buy her share. She has no luck with Deek and then Jimmy refuses to let her apply for a loan against the flat. Jimmy feels frustrated and sidelined when she won't tell him why she's so upset about Bob and Theresa. Gina agrees to help Scarlett but she can only get her hands on 800 pounds at such short notice. She tries to find out what's worrying Scarlett but again Scarlett won't say. She thanks Gina for the money and goes to see Bob. He's grateful when she offers him the cash but he tells her he can't take it - it's not nearly enough and he's got Theresa's help anyway. When Theresa hears that Scarlett tried to buy her out of the garage she wants the 800 pounds for herself and threatens to reveal the big family secret if she doesn't hand it over. Trapped, a broken Scarlett has no choice and gives Theresa the money.
Scarlett meets with her brother Bob and Molly to ask for help but Theresa catches them plotting. Angry, she hits Bob when he tries to stand up to her. Scarlett sees an opportunity to get Theresa arrested and convinces Bob to report her for assault. Theresa is alarmed when she catches Bob on his way to the police and immediately apologises, persuading him not to send her back to jail.
Theresa tells Scarlett she's going to pay for trying to get her arrested. She proves Scarlett can't stand up to her by forcing Scarlett to create a diversion while she steals Hayley's purse. When the police come to investigate the theft, Scarlett steals Liz's purse and tries to plant it on Theresa but Theresa catches her. As punishment she demands that Scarlett give her the contents of the till in an hour or she'll destroy her. Scarlett gets herself sacked so she can't steal the money and heads home, stopping off at Liz's house to return her purse by posting it through the letterbox.
Scarlett begs her to stop the blackmail. Theresa tells her she's barely even started and promises to take everything she's got away from her. Scarlett decides to put a stop to it herself and storms off to Montego Motors with Theresa in hot pursuit. Jimmy spots the sisters and follows them to the garage where Scarlett is trying to break in so she can burn it down for the insurance money. That way Bob won't need Theresa. Jimmy pleads with her to tell him what's wrong but Scarlett won't talk, still desperate to protect her secret. It's the last straw for Jimmy, who tells her he can't be her husband if she keeps secrets from him. Jimmy starts to walk away. Faced with losing everything, just as Theresa promised she would, Scarlett finally reveals her secret to Jimmy - Bob isn't her son, he's Theresa's!
Eileen and Raymond wait anxiously for news about their fostering application. Eileen's desperate to be a mother again and really wants to raise another child. They're both excited when the social worker calls and asks to meet that evening - their application has been approved and passed on to the panel for final consideration. They celebrate with a hug but Eileen's alarmed when she sees Raymond looking at her with love in his eyes. Gina tells Eileen that she and Raymond can't give a foster child stability if there are unresolved feelings between them. Eileen reluctantly agrees. She makes a call to the social worker to cancel their meeting but when she sees Raymond in the distance she feels guilty about going behind his back, so she postpones it instead to buy herself some time. She decides to confront him about his feelings in the hope that he'll dispel her concerns so they can go ahead with the fostering. Raymond does his best to allay her fears. He's kidding himself and while Eileen isn't 100 per cent convinced she selfishly decides to believe him. She agrees to go ahead with the fostering and reschedules the meeting with the social worker. Later than night she takes a call from the doctor who thinks she might be pregnant. With a foster child and a possible pregnancy it looks like Eileen is going to get what she wished for... and then some.
Inspired by Stella's stories of life on the street, Jen decides to help Stella improve herself. Charlie counsels against Jen's patronising plan but she refuses to be talked out of it - she wants to be a good friend. But when she suspects that Stella might be guilty of stealing Hayley's purse it's clear she doesn't understand the meaning of true friendship. Still determined to help, Jen offers to reimburse Hayley for the money that was in her purse when the bag was stolen. Taking this as confirmation of Stella's guilt Hayley gets angry and decides to call the police. Jen is alarmed that her plan has backfired and Stella is furious when she finds out. Jen realises that Stella is innocent and is gutted that her prejudice has made things worse. When another purse is stolen in the pub, Stella's innocence is proved and Jen learns that being a friend is about trust and support, not judgement.
