When Malcolm changes his police statement a familiar face returns to Shieldinch with old scores to settle. It looks like things might never be the same again on Montego Street.

Lenny is released from jail as a result of Malcolm changing his statement. The police are reluctant but their hands are tied and Lenny walks free. A concerned DI Rook informs Lydia that Lenny is out. Lydia is terrified for her safety but also fears that Amber will now discover the extent of Lydia's lies. Lenny is out and about in Shieldinch and terrorising anyone who crosses his path. Malcolm stands up to Lenny in the street: hassling pensioners is truly an indication of the sad, lonely man Mr Murdoch has become. He and Liz remain frightened: what if Lenny craves revenge?

Lydia tries to explain to Amber why she lied but can't bring herself to do it. So Amber searches for the truth elsewhere. Amber seeks out Malcolm who tells her what he really saw that night: he saw Lenny try to save Ewan, and he and Lydia lied to get Lenny put away. Amber is devastated by her mother's betrayal. Lydia, terrified for her safety, tries to persuade Amber to leave Shieldinch with her. Amber refuses to go. She has washed her hands of Lydia and won't believe a word she says.

Lenny tracks down Lydia and the two of them have a face-off. Lenny is heartbroken that Lydia betrayed him like she did. Lydia manages to persuade Lenny there could still be some kind of future for them and promises she'll bring Amber to talk to him in an hour. As time marches on Lenny begins to realise Lydia had no intention of bringing Amber to him, and his rage grows ever stronger. Meanwhile Lydia is trying to find Amber but, devastated by learning the truth about Ewan, Amber is hiding out at Jennifer's.

Amber seeks out Lenny. Seeing this as his chance to salvage at least one of his relationships, Lenny is hopeful. But as the past is dredged up and emotions run high, Amber washes her hands of her father too. He and Lydia are as bad as each other - it seems her whole life has been a lie. Lenny is left reeling when Amber reveals that far from bringing Amber to him for a reconciliation, Lydia was planning to skip town with their only daughter. Lenny is livid. He threatens Lydia in the street. She flees, terrified for her own safety.

Lenny is caught off balance by all the emotional turmoil so he visits Fr Mulvaney. Lenny is confused - there's a very thin line between love and hate and he's currently precariously balanced upon that line with regards to Lydia. He doesn't know what to do. But by the time Lenny leaves, Fr Mulvaney strongly suspects that Lydia might be in grave danger. Meanwhile the townsfolk, sick of being threatened by a now very emotionally unhinged Lenny Murdoch, take matters into their own hands. Failing in their attempt to buy him off and win him round, the men folk form a lynch mob to put the frighteners on him. However, after landing one blow, they are unable to carry out their violent plan when Lenny holds a mirror up to them: they're not murderers and if they want rid of him that's what they're going to have to do - kill him.

Lydia makes a last ditch attempt to make Amber leave town forever with her but to no avail. She desperately asks Scarlett to keep an eye on Amber in her absence. Lydia is packed and ready to go, but just as she makes to leave, she suspects there may be someone in the house with her... It's Lenny and he's got a gun. He confronts her but ultimately can't go through with harming her, as it seems there's still a glimmer of love in there. He tells her to leave. Lydia scarpers. Lenny takes one last look round the house he once called home and leaves. Forever...
