Raymond and Eileen realise something is missing in their lives and make a life-changing decision. Shieldinch plays host to an open mike contest, and Molly's up to her old tricks.

Raymond's had a great time babysitting Madonna, and he drops her off with a grateful Jimmy. Eileen and Raymond watch wistfully as Jimmy and Madonna walk off. Big Bob and Scarlett discuss entering the Shieldinch talent contest. In the pub, Raymond's given an envelope which contains an award certificate for the pub from the Clyde Enquirer. Raymond is flattered as Big Bob and Scarlett congratulate him; he thinks of Shona - this was her dream, a cosy wee pub. But his pride is short-lived after Iona notices Raymond's certificate and tells Scarlett that it's just a con. Iona feels bad when Raymond overhears and walks out upset.

Eileen is feeling increasingly fed-up and alone, especially when Gina cancels on their night out and Ruth says she has to pick up Eilidh. Raymond, feeling much the same, agrees to babysit again for Scarlett at the last minute. He chucks his certificate in the bin to everyone's surprise, then snaps at Deek about Stella. Whilst Raymond is babysitting Madonna, his attention is drawn to an advert in the local paper. Back in the Ship, Raymond shows Eileen the paper advert: it's seeking potential foster-parents. Eileen dismisses it. Raymond asks Eileen to foster with him, but she tells him they wouldn't be any good, and leaves. Raymond is irritated when Gina tells him to think very carefully before entering into foster-parenting - it seems like Eileen's told everyone! Eileen, Ruth and Iona consider Raymond fostering, they all agree it's a bad idea, but Eileen then defends Raymond, insisting that he was a good parent and that they were both responsible for what went wrong in their family and marriage. That night Eileen apologises to Raymond for hurting him. Over a glass of whisky, Raymond tells Eileen he's going to apply to be a foster parent. He persuades Eileen to do it with him.

Molly angers Scarlett by telling her she'll be staying at Deek's more permanently. Scarlett barks back at Molly that Big Bob is singing in the community centre talent show. Molly enters the garage to hear Wee Bob singing. She's not impressed by his voice, so when Deek reveals he'd like to try his hand at stand-up comedy, Molly persuades him to give it a bash at the talent show. Later, Molly overhears Iona telling Gina that Big Bob is entering the talent contest and how he never sings without his trusty old guitar. Later, Big Bob panics when his guitar goes missing. Big Bob insists he will only perform with his own guitar or he won't perform at all! Meanwhile, Molly's coaching of Deek's comedic skills is in full flow.

At the Mullen's, Jimmy and Scarlett discuss Raymond's fostering plan - they think it's a bad idea too. Big Bob tells Jimmy and Scarlett about his own brief time spent in foster care - Raymond's a good guy and if he wants to foster, they shouldn't try to dissuade him. At the community centre, the talent contest gets underway. Gina sings a song, as does Innes, but the biggest event of the night is an unplanned one - Wee Bob arrives and interrupts Deek's lame stand-up routine. He announces that Molly is responsible for Stella's drinking: she was the one who bought the vodka! Everyone is shocked, but Molly is indignant. Raymond tells Deek to go and find Stella. Big Bob spots his guitar in the corner and Wee Bob reveals he found it under Molly's bed. Scarlett is livid and starts to make a scene, but Big Bob launches into a song and distracts everyone with his wonderful voice.

In the Oyster, Charlie is confused when Innes plays it cool with Beth. Innes later lies to Jennifer saying his date with Beth went well, but in reality he rushed off after she kissed him. The next day Jennifer learns the truth from Beth and finds Innes on George's bench. He tells her he's scared of having an epileptic seizure; Jennifer realises he hasn't dated anyone since the diagnosis. She tells him she'll help him get through it. Innes is grateful, but doesn't want Charlie or anyone else to know about this.

Unbeknown to Deek, Stella is still in Shieldinch. She tells Raymond that Deek chucked her out. Stella is angered when she later sees Molly putting her possessions in the bin. They argue and Stella lunges at Molly. Unfortunately, Deek and Raymond witness this. They rush over and pull Stella away. Stella protests her innocence to Deek, explaining that Molly spiked her drink, but her words fall on deaf ears. That evening, Stella walks dejectedly into the subway station, just as Deek, who now knows the truth, comes round the corner. Disappointed that she's not there, Deek walks away.
