From the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the Halle under conductor Mark Elder, with Spring Fire, Sir Arnold Bax's colourful tone poem inspired by pagan legends; Chopin's Second Piano Concerto with soloist Polina Leschenko -a veritable tour-de-force-, and Sibelius' 7th Symphony, the composer's last and profound statement in a genre he made entirely his own.
