Heather's waters break and Patrick is there to hold her hand, while Shirley gets more desperate to make ends meet and Janine attempts to tear Sam's new life apart.
It's Heather's last shift at the Minute Mart and she is hoping for a leaving gesture from Patrick but is left disappointed.
After moping around the Square for a few hours she goes home to a surprise party thrown by Patrick, Shirley, Pat and Peggy. Heather and Patrick are taken by surprise when Heather's waters break.
Heather is worried that Shirley can't afford her half of the rent. Shirley is struggling to make money on the ice-cream van. In a desperate attempt to keep her promise to support Heather and the baby Shirley uses Jack's contact to buy some drugs with Heather's pram money. She won't just be selling ice-creams.
Archie tries to dig out information from Janine about her relationship with Ryan. Later, he puts the pressure on Janine to get Sam to skip bail. Janine tries to rally Sam to a bridal fair but fails to manipulate her into leaving Walford.
Janine confesses to Archie that she isn't prepared to be the one to get rid of Sam. Archie isn't worried; there's more than one way to skin a cat.
Libby confides in Owen; she's feeling homesick and yet she's not quite able to spend the time with Darren that she'd like. Darren takes Owen out to ask his permission to marry Libby.
However, Libby follows him to the Argee Bhajee and accuses him of seeing another woman only to scupper Darren's plans making him propose there and then.
Billy is down on his luck; Peggy has asked him and Jay to leave the Vic because there's no room. Billy's on the job search again and finds himself hero of the day as he saves Jean from a flower thief.
