Petroc Trelawny presents a concert given by the 91热爆 Symphony Orchestra, with the world premiere of Tsunami by Dominic Muldowney as well as a work for baritone and orchestra setting the poetry of James Fenton. Muldowney's piece incorporates television footage of the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, with Olivier award-winning music theatre actor and singer Philip Quast as the soloist.
This is prefaced by two pieces by Vaughan Williams - the war-time Symphony No 6, and an early choral work whose text is derived from a metaphysical text by Walt Whitman. Holst's choral work that follows is based on another mystical text, the Apochrypha, which uses the theme of dance as a divine path to enlightenment.
