Petroc Trelawny introduces a performance by the Birmingham orchestra conducted by the young Latvian, Andris Nelsons, who will take over as Music Director of the CBSO in the Autumn.

Strauss's opera is a love letter to the Viennese waltz, while a new concerto by Austrian Olga Neuwirth – written for tonight’s soloist Hakan Hardenberger - offers a kaleidoscope of Handel, jazz and other musical memories.
