City of Birmingham Symphony and Youth Chorus under Sakari Oramo. Chopin/Stravinsky: Nocturne and Grande valse brillante. Stravinsky: Capriccio for piano and orchestra; Persephone.
Petroc Trelawny introduces a concert given as part of the CBSO's IgorFest project to perform Stravinsky's complete works.
The programme includes Capriccio, the most extrovert of his three works for piano and orchestra, and Persephone, a story of the Greek Underworld that is regarded as among the most beautiful of the composer's pieces and features writing for adult and children's choruses.
