91热爆 Philharmonic/James MacMillan. Messiaen: Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum. MacMillan: Three Interludes (The Sacrifice) (world premiere). Kancheli: Symphony No 5.

Introduced by Petroc Trelawny.

James MacMillan, the 91热爆 Philharmonic's Composer/Conductor, conducts the world premiere of three interludes from his new opera The Sacrifice, a work based on a medieval Welsh tale and focusing on issues of love and conflict.

The programme also includes a work by Messiaen celebrating the Resurrection and evoking the landscapes of the Alps, and Kancheli's Fifth Symphony, written 30 years ago. It features a child-like theme on the harpsichord, representing youthful optimism, which is graphically overpowered by orchestral forces.
