Episode 2 of 4

Documentary series with Professor Robert Winston following the lives of 25 children born in 2000. He looks at the influence of television and computer games on kids.

In the fifth year of this ground-breaking series, Professor Robert Winston tried to answer the age-old question, are we born or are we made? This unique project follows the lives of 25 babies born at the start of the 21st century as they grow from infants into adults. They come from all over the UK and all walks of life but can their parents influence them, or are their lives already mapped out in the genes they were born with?

Children say they like playing with their friends most of all, but triplets Alice, Mabel and Phoebe live in a house where the TV is always on, and they go to sleep in front of it. Does it matter what children watch? Ethan adores violent computer games. What are they doing to him? With children spending almost four hours a day in front of their screens, have we turned into a nation of couch potatoes?
