Radio 2's Young Brass Award 2016

After an exciting competition, judges Professor Edward Gregson, Les Neish and Stephen Bell revealed Daniel Thomas as their winner for 2016.

All three judges said that the standard of musicianship and technical ability was incredibly high and that it wasn’t an easy decision.

Young Brass Awards 2016 Semi Final

The Young Brass Award has launched the careers of Grant Jameson, Matilda Lloyd, Lewis Musson and Katrina Marzella to name a few.

The judges selected the four players who went through to the Grand Final on Friday 15 April 2016 at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

The finalists were:

  • Samuel Dye - Trombone
  • Benjamin Goldscheider - French Horn
  • Kyle MacCorquodale - Bass Trombone
  • Daniel Thomas – Euphonium
