Low key Loki: Is the new John Newman single really Calvin on Hiddleswift?

8 July 2016

Is John Newman's new track an 'anti Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston' record?

John discusses working with Calvin Harris and the new tracks they鈥檝e been working on.

Just a new single by John Newman, nothing to see here...

popped into the Radio 1 studios this morning to debut his new single 'Olé' and do the Nixtape; standard New Music Friday.

Or is it? You see, 'Olé; was wrtten by Calvin Harris. Who you might have heard has had a , following a totally "respectful" breakup that quickly developed into a tabloid-thrilling, social-media-igniting, conspiracy-fuelling Taylor Swift/Tom Hiddleston relationship.

So we're sure we shouldn't read anything into the lyrics of this track. Nope. Nothing at all...

*sips tea*

So is it actually about the relationship possibly known as T-Swiddles?

Well, we can't be sure. But there's everything to speculate on.

Like the opening words being "low key," which sounds rather a lot like... Loki, Tom Hiddleston's character in the Thor movies.

And uhm, this bit-

“My heart speaks/I ain't seen you or been with you for weeks/But I see online that you've begun to be/A good girl and take trips with your boyfriend/Being attentive, continue to pretend,”

You ok there, Calvin hun? That's a little intense.

Sounds of the summer?

Or sounds.... bad?

Whatever it is, it's a bit divisive

Grimmy said it "sounds nothing like anything else getting played at the minute," - it's certainly a bit unusual, a strong departure from Calvin's usual dance sound.

Maybe it's a sign. Or maybe it's just John Newman's new single and Calvin got paid to write it. Either way, it's a bit love it or hate it.
