Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

91热爆 New Comedy Awards is a TV series commissioned by 91热爆 Three and 91热爆 One, and made by an independent producer, Phil McIntyre Television.

The 91热爆 New Comedy Awards is a nationwide talent search to find the best new stand-up comics. For full details on how the talent search and awards will run, please refer to the awards rules found here.

The 91热爆 will collect your personal data via an online platform used by the 91热爆.

If you appear on a 91热爆 broadcast or otherwise feature in 91热爆 content, this may include the programme or content being available online and/or on demand, and your appearance may be used again in a future broadcast. It may also include use on the 91热爆’s social media channels.

What personal data will 91热爆 collect and how will we use it?

The 91热爆 will collect and process the personal data for the purposes of producing the 91热爆 New Comedy Awards.

Personal data

You need to be aged 18 years or over to take part in the 91热爆 New Comedy Awards.

The categories of personal data that we process includes the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your contact telephone number
  • Your date of birth
  • Your email address
  • Your birthplace (a region of the UK or ‘outside of UK’)
  • Your current location (a region of the UK or 'outside of UK')
  • Your response to the application questions, which include your personal experience and life stories
  • A video recording

Background checks

The 91热爆 and Phil McIntyre Television will carry out background checks on those who make it through to the televised heats, including online and social media screening checks, and DBS checks. We will use the personal data processed as part of background checks to verify you meet the eligibility criteria. Information returned as part of a background check may not rule you out of the awards, but non-disclosure of such information which is later discovered may result in your exclusion from the awards.

Who is the Data Controller?

The 91热爆 is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the 91热爆 decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the 91热爆 has the responsibility to comply and to demonstrate compliance with data protection law.

Phil McIntyre Television, the independent producer of the show, are an independent data controller for your personal data when using it to make the programme. Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The lawful basis on which the 91热爆 processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The 91热爆’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates and entertains. This is consistent with the 91热爆’s wider public purposes under its Royal Charter which requires the 91热爆 to “show the most creative, highest quality and distinctive output and services: the 91热爆 should provide high-quality output in many different genres and across a range of services and platforms which sets the standard in the United Kingdom and internationally.”

We will process any information disclosed by shortlisted applicants, including any criminal convictions and offences, as part of a background check on the basis of their consent.

Sharing your personal data

The 91热爆 works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the 91热爆 and not independently of the 91热爆.

We will share your personal data with the independent producer, Phil McIntyre Television, to make the programme.

We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data

Unsuccessful entrants’ (i.e. those who are not shortlisted) personal data will be held for a maximum of six (6) months after the end of the talent search, after which it will be deleted.

Shortlisted entrants’ and the winner’s personal data will be kept for a period of twelve (12) months after the talent search closing date, after which it will be deleted.

Should your contribution be broadcast or used across 91热爆 platforms, it will be retained in perpetuity in alignment with the 91热爆 Archiving policy.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA).

Your rights and more information

You have rights under data protection law:

  • You can request a copy of the personal data 91热爆 stores about you.
  • You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
  • You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the 91热爆 to refuse your request.
  • In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or to object to the processing of your personal data.
