About UsYou are in: London > Radio > 94.9 Information > About Us > Mumford and Sons Mumford and Sons Mumford and SonsWith two members playing jazz from the age of 12, another a blues fanatic and a frontman with bluegrass and rock in his blood, Mumford and Sons have dubbed the result... Folk 'n' Roll. We ask how so much can come from so few? Here is a band with four vocalists, three guitar players, two drummers, a pianist, an organist and a bass player, not to mention throwing the banjo, dobro and mandolin into the mix. Images of a vast orchestral gathering begin to form, cemented momentarily by rich and varied performances on record. Four lads from London would not be the logical sum of so many parts. And yet, here they are. Mumford and Sons, together since October 2007, have spent a year creating debut EP, Love your Ground, which is released on Chess Club Records this November. Twanging, howling, shaking all rounders Expect to hear minstrel-like melody-making, somewhere in the ilk of Seattle's baroque outfit Fleet Foxes. And as if penning the record wasn't enough, Mumford and Sons have gone on to grace the world stage, jumping on tour with Laura Marling in the States, as well as Johnny Flynn and the Sussex. Glastonbury too, a common milestone in any artist's history, provided 'Worthy' recognition of a band on the up. Arriving to perform what they expected to be a quiet Sunday lunchtime slot, the band were thrilled to find an arena filled with appreciative fans and a winning atmosphere. With the EP soon to be released, check out their MySpace now for more music and gig listings.
