It's Ruth's night out with Michelle and Melody but, as she heads over to Michelle's, she lies to Davey about where she is going, as the medical drama continues. Melody and Michelle give Ruth a makeover but she gets very drunk and falls asleep on the sofa.
Ìý
Elsewhere, Vivien attends her night-school class for intensive driving theory lessons. Annoyed at nearly being run over by Alison, and then meeting her in the same class, Vivien wants to know why she's there when she is already driving. She ends up taking an upset Alison for a coffee, and discovers she wants company and is also worried about her sister, Judith. Certain that she can predict the exact hour of her death, Judith fears that she is going to die tonight, on the 10th anniversary of their mother's death.
Ìý
When Judith calls Alison and asks her to come home and be with her, Alison is torn, but goes anyway. She forgets her bag, however, and Vivien takes it round to her house. As she arrives, Alison is trying to persuade Judith that she is not going to die and, exasperated, says she can't have second sight because she was adopted. But it appears the prophesy wasn't entirely unfounded, as she then collapses.
Ìý
Meanwhile, Melody and Michelle are pleased with their makeover results. But when Ruth finally wakes up, she panics and rushes home to find that an unimpressed Davey has already returned home from work. When she plucks up the courage to say she wants to live her own life, Davey tells her she should change her job and drags her upstairs into a scalding hot shower.
Ìý
Ruth is played by Selina Chilton, Michelle by Donnaleigh Bailey, Melody by Elizabeth Bower, Vivien by Anita Carey, Alison by Stella Madden, Judith by Veronica Quilligan and Davey by Gavin Bell.

Supermodel Sophie Dahl reveals what life was like with Roald Dahl as her grandfather, in today's edition of A Taste Of My Life. She also tells Nigel Slater how she first stumbled across fashion stylist Isabella Blow, who kick-started her modelling career.
Ìý
Sophie talks candidly about how she never considered herself to be on the large side when she first started modelling. She remembers herself as being something of "an over-excited Labrador at the fashion shows, constantly reaching for the next croissant". She tells Nigel how she would feel cautious if a daughter of hers decided to go into modelling.
Ìý
Sophie's brother, Luke, sends an affectionate message from their grandfather's home. He recalls the ways in which Sophie has always been a mother to him over the years – whilst cooking a childhood recipe created by Roald Dahl.

L-R Ruairidh, Jessica, Bryony and Galen
begin life at the Mallaig High School
The series exploring one of the most significant turning points in a child's life – the transition from primary to secondary school – continues and meets four children from the remote highlands and islands of North West Scotland. My New Best Friend follows them for eight months as they leave their tiny primary schools to start life at Mallaig High School on the mainland.
Ìý
Bryony lives on the Isle of Eigg, which has a population of 86, and, according to Bryony, only has three sunny days every six years. Her primary school has just five pupils, so she's looking forward to high school and making new friends. To attend Mallaig High, Bryony will leave her family to live with another on the mainland – as her siblings did before her. She's excited about the move, but is nervous the school work will be harder and people might not like her.
Ìý
Galen lives on the remote peninsula of Knoydart. He is the oldest pupil at his primary school and, while that can be a bit boring, he's not lonely because he has a computer which he considers to be a friend. Galen will also need to leave his family to live on the mainland when he starts high school.
Ìý
Jessica lives in Morar on the mainland. Her primary school has just 11 pupils and she's a bit worried she might get lost trying to find her way to classes at high school. But her best friend, Kimberly, will be there with her and she's confident there is one thing she'll beat the other students at – being the smallest.
Ìý
Ruairidh, meanwhile, lives in Arisaig, near Mallaig, and he already knows lots of students at the high school. He likes primary school because he can play football almost every day, although he doesn't like maths. Ruairidh was brought up by his father following the death of his mother when he was just five. Both his brother and sister went to Mallaig High, but they've left home now.
Ìý
The children all have different journeys into this new world, but share universal challenges – finding their own identities, making new friends and trying to belong.
Ìý
My New Best Friend forms part of 91Èȱ¬ Four's Childhood Season – along with Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go, Painted Babies Growing Up and The Death Of Childhood – which examine different aspects of childhood with four unique documentaries from award-winning and critically acclaimed film-makers.
