The Human Planet Prom is broadcast on 91Èȱ¬ TwoThe Human Planet Prom is broadcast on 91Èȱ¬ Two

The Human Planet Prom is inspired by the landmark 91Èȱ¬ One show and accompanying 91Èȱ¬ Radio 3 series, Music Planet. It features music from the series by Nitin Sawhney performed by the 91Èȱ¬ Concert Orchestra under Charles Hazlewood, as well as music and musicians from Greenland, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, the Sakha Republic and Zambia, brought to London for this event ( and repeated on ).

The Human Planet Prom is presented by John Hurt, the voice of the 91Èȱ¬ One series, and includes big-screen highlights from the TV programmes. It also includes a performance by the 91Èȱ¬ Concert Orchestra on instruments created by some of the UK's top instrument-makers out of junk, broken furniture and the contents of roadside skips. The concert is the climax of a new documentary, Scrapheap Orchestra, for 91Èȱ¬ Four, to be broadcast in the autumn. The Human Planet Prom will be broadcast on 91Èȱ¬ Four on 5 August.

The Human Planet magic spreads into Hyde Park for an afternoon of free family fun in Kensington Gardens. Human Planet in the Park will feature performances by a selection of musicians from the main Prom, as well as the chance to get hands-on with the Scrapheap Orchestra instruments and a host of family-friendly workshops for all ages and abilities, inspired by music traditions from around the world ().
