Celebrating the 91Èȱ¬'s ongoing commitment to literature programming, 91Èȱ¬ Archive is making new material available within its popular collection: In Their Own Words – British Novelists.

Throughout its history, the 91Èȱ¬ has helped audiences delve into the imagination of Britain's most revered writers, to understand better the settings they evoke and the characters they create.

The collection of television and radio interviews with some of the 20th century's most-loved authors already includes Muriel Spark and John le Carré, both featured in the inaugural World Book Night in partnership with 91Èȱ¬ Two. It will now be supplemented with additional material to support the 91Èȱ¬'s Year Of Books.

The 91Èȱ¬ Archive is one of the largest multimedia archives in the world. Held in 27 locations across the UK, it holds close to a million hours of TV and radio programmes, 6 million stills photographs, more than 4 million items of sheet music and more than half-a-million documents and records. New material in the collection is now available at bbc.co.uk/archive/writers.
