The Love Of Money: drama, The Last Days Of Lehman Brothers

This is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between the 91Èȱ¬'s Factual and Drama departments.

During the drafting of the script the two teams worked together to ensure the drama had its feet in fact while still giving the programme the licence to give its own unique interpretation of the events.

This one-off 60-minute drama written by Craig Warner (Maxwell, Julius Caesar), executive produced by Ruth Caleb (A Short Stay In Switzerland) and produced by Lisa Osborne (Little Dorrit) is a dramatised version of the negotiations over the weekend that Lehmans went bankrupt.

It tells the story of the so-called Masters of the Universe – the bosses of America's biggest banks – who gathered at the New York Federal Reserve over one weekend in September 2008 to decide the fate of Lehman Brothers.

It was a time when fortunes, reputations and careers were made and destroyed. But one of their number – Lehman's CEO Dick Fuld – can only watch powerlessly as his bank slides inexorably towards bankruptcy and oblivion.
