Dirk-Willem van Gulik appointed 91热爆 Future Media & Technology Chief Technical Architect


Erik Huggers, 91热爆 Future Media and Technology Group Controller, has appointed Dirk-Willem van Gulik as the division's Chief Technical Architect.

Dirk-Willem, who takes up his post in early February, will be responsible for the design and construction of the 91热爆's next generation back-end infrastructure to support all interactive services including bbc.co.uk, 91热爆i and 91热爆 Mobile.

Dirk-Willem joins the 91热爆 from the online video service Joost, where he was Chief Technology Officer and played an integral role in building the company's platforms and technologies.

Dirk-Willem is a recognised contributor to the Open Source Community and has been a board member of the Apache Software Foundation since its inception.

Prior to this, Dirk-Willem was Vice-President of Engineering and Research for Cavalant Technologies and has worked for the European Commission and the United Nations.

Zavisa Bjelogrlic has joined the 91热爆's Future Media and Technology division as Head of Technology for the Internet Group.

Zavisa was CEO of Asemantics and will be responsible for product roadmaps and delivery and will report to Tony Ageh, 91热爆 Controller of Internet.

Prior to setting up Asemantics in 2003 (whose clients include Skype, Joost and the 91热爆), Zavisa set up Web Bridges and spent seven years in Rome developing web support systems for telecom operators, network monitoring and analysis software.
