Children in Need highlights
Junior Dragons' Den
Ìý
As part of the evening of entertainment for 91Èȱ¬ Children In Need, the hit 91Èȱ¬ Two programme Dragons' Den has been playing host to some unusually youthful entrepreneurs.
Ìý
Usually in the den, adult entrepreneurs attempt to persuade the five multi-millionaire Dragons – Duncan Bannatyne, Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and James Caan, to pledge a much needed cash investment in their business idea or invention.
Ìý
The Dragons are all prepared to back the best ideas but it's their own money they're spending, so the questions can be tough.
Ìý
In this special one-off edition of Junior Dragons' Den, eight aspiring young entrepreneurs ask the Dragons to back their own business ideas and inventions.
Ìý
The children range from nine to 14 years old and come from all across the UK.
Ìý
All of the children impress the Dragons with their energy and ingenuity. But entering the den can be a daunting task, even for adults, so can any of them manage to persuade the Dragons to give them the investment they need in order to turn their business dreams into reality?
Ìý
Their ideas include a gadget to stop DIY-ers banging their own fingers when they hammer in nails; a kit for schools to prevent children in the playground feeling lonely; a wooden house for hamsters and guinea pigs; a nightclub for 14 to 18-year-olds; a stylish over-the-shoulder utility belt to keep teenage essentials close at hand; and a prototype for a plastic tray with unique handles for carrying drinks away from vending machines.
Ìý
On meeting the children, Dragon Duncan Bannatyne said: "It was a great privilege to meet so many aspiring and inspiring young entrepreneurs during the filming of Junior Dragons' Den for 91Èȱ¬ Children In Need. All the children showed great courage coming to stand in front of the four nasty, horrible Dragons and me."
