Radio 2 listeners donate record amount for 91热爆 Children in Need

91热爆 Radio 2 listeners have pledged a record amount of money for the 91热爆 Children In Need Appeal raising more than two million pounds.

The grand total of 拢2,174,527 was raised through: Terry Wogan's Auction of Things That Money Can't Buy; a Music Marathon; and the sales of the Janet and John CD produced by Terry's listeners - THE TOGS (Terry's Old Geezers and Gals, Hon President HM The Queen).

Sir Terry Wogan said: "Every year I'm astounded by the generosity of the British public but this year - even before I start at 7.00pm on 91热爆 One - Radio 2 listeners have excelled themselves by my highest expectations raising over two million pounds. It's amazing!"

Terry Wogan's on-air auction of "money can't buy" prizes on Radio 2 raised 拢512,450 for Children in Need in just four days.

Bidding peaked on Wednesday, when one listener pledged 拢47,000 to travel to Finland and see the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest filmed with Terry.

A rock fan bid 拢20,000 to fly with Iron Maiden's and 91热爆 6 Music's Bruce Dickinson and Pink Floyd's Nick Mason to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

An Elton John fan bid 拢32,000 to watch the legend play a special 60th birthday concert in New York.

Wildlife fans spent 拢30,000 to travel to Devon to visit the 91热爆 Springwatch farm with Bill Oddie and Kate Humble.

A Doctor Who fan paid 拢25,000 for the chance to meet the Time Lord - David Tennant - and his new companion Martha Jones.

A Queen Mary 2 voyage with Ken Bruce raised 拢35,000 and the chance to go foraging in the countryside with Chris Evans raised 拢33,000.

The auction raised 拢72,950 more than last year's total of 拢439,500.

Sales of the Janet and John CDs raised more than one million pounds for 91热爆 Children in Need. The CD, produced by Terry's listeners, has sold more than 100,000 copies.

The Janet and John stories are read by Terry Wogan and written by a TOG - one of Terry's listeners, Mick Sturbs.

Terry says: "The Janet and John CD has gone Gold! And every penny goes to Children In Need thanks to the efforts of the TOGS.

"The CD features the adventures of Janet and John Marsh, as broadcast live on Wake Up To Wogan."

John Marsh is a Radio 2 announcer and regular contributor to Terry's show and Janet is his wife.

CDs can be purchased from the TOGS website at www.togs.org.
