Oasis sign up for 91Èȱ¬ 6 Music Selector

Oasis are set to take over the digital airwaves when the 91Èȱ¬ 6 Music Selector returns on Tuesday 12 December 2006.

Ìý

On that day, Liam, Gem and Andy take over 6 Music network programming for the day.

Ìý

Oasis have confirmed their position as the biggest band in the UK over the last year, completing a mammoth world tour and receiving Q Awards for Best Band and Best Songwriter.

Ìý

They are now set to release their compilation album, Stop The Clocks, featuring the band's choices of their best tracks over an incredible 12 years of recording.

Ìý

In a unique opportunity for fans to get inside the band they will talk about their favourite music, reveal the artists that have influenced their career, and plunder the extensive 91Èȱ¬ archives to play some classic session and concert recordings from the past 40 years.

Ìý

For a band whose love of pop music in all its forms is well known, the day is sure to feature the expected and the unexpected.

Ìý

The Oasis choices range from The Sex Pistols, The Beatles and The Kinks to Boards of Canada, The Go! Team and Amy Winehouse.

Ìý

They have also commissioned one of their favourite bands, The Coral, to record a special and exclusive four track session at Noel Gallagher's studio.

Ìý

In conversation with Steve Lamacq, Liam talks about the development of his own songwriting and claims the band is destined for even greater success.

Ìý

He says: "I want to be bigger. I imagined we'd be a lot bigger than we are. I think there's a f* genius album around the corner."

Ìý

6 Music's Head of Programmes, Ric Blaxill, has been delighted with their response to the challenge.

Ìý

Ric says: "It is a real honour for 6 Music that Oasis have agreed to take part in this year's Selector. I'm looking forward to a highly entertaining day."
