Masterclass Concert

Saturday 8 October - Masterclass Concert

From 3 to 7 October 2005, Radio 2 invites musicians from some of the finest ensembles in the UK to inspire local music students in a series of specially organised masterclasses.

A range of instrumentalists, plus Tina May - one of the country's finest international jazz singers - will coach students in jazz and big band playing.

The week's activities culminate on Saturday 8 October with a lunchtime performance of the Radio 2 Educational Prom at the Assembly Hall, Summerhill Centre at 2.00pm, presented by Radio 2's Ken Bruce and conducted by course leader Paul Eshelby.

Paul Eshelby is a musician whose career has seen him play as a member of the 91热爆 Scottish Radio Orchestra, the 91热爆 Radio Orchestra and 91热爆 Big Band, as well as work with many of the world's leading artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Pavarotti, via Freddie Mercury and Queen.

Paul also teaches trumpet at Eton College and is a Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music.

The classes are free and open to students of all ages whose musical standard is Grade Five and above.
