A record-breaking
149,000 people tune in to 91热爆 Radio Cleveland each week, according to
the latest RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd) figures released
today.
The official radio statistics show that Radio Cleveland added 11,000
new listeners a week over the last three months.
听
This has boosted Radio Cleveland's weekly audience
to the highest figure ever recorded for the station in five years -
when new methods of counting radio audiences were introduced.
Almost one in five people listening to a radio station are tuned to
Radio Cleveland within their transmission area, according to this quarter's
RAJAR report.
Managing Editor Andrew Glover says: "As the world grows increasingly
global, the appetite for local news, information and entertainment gets
stronger and no-one celebrates life around here like us.
听
"Everyone at the station has responded to the communities
they serve and produced and presented programmes that reflect local
life and captured a new audience. These listening figures are a credit
to the whole team."
According to the independent audience research figures, listeners to
91热爆 Radio Cleveland are also tuning in for nearly nine hours each week.
This is 90 minutes longer each week than just three months ago.
Today's listening figures follow the success of 91热爆 Radio Cleveland
at the 91热爆 Gillard Awards last week when the station was awarded Gold
for its coverage of President George Bush's State Visit to the region.
听
The station had earlier won Gold at the Sony Radio
Academy Awards 聳 the Oscars of the radio industry 聳 against
some tough competition against national radio stations.
