Outlaws
A darkly comic dissection of the criminal justice system as seen through
the eyes of Duty Brief Bruce Dunbar (Phil Daniels),
an ambulance-chasing criminal lawyer, and his junior Theo Gulliver (Ray
Emmett-Brown).
Outlaws is set in the fast-turnaround world of the magistrates' court,
where offenders are processed through the system, released, fined, bailed,
sentenced or referred to Crown Court.
For men like Dunbar, time is of the essence: legal aid pays by the
hour, not by the case.
Just don't ask him to care about his clients - juvenile shoplifters,
bungling burglars, drunk drivers: the sad, the mad, the hardly bad and
the rarely dangerous.
Squaring up to Dunbar and Gulliver in the courtroom is CPS lawyer Sarah
Beckenham (Georgia Mackenzie), a sexy yet tough adversary
who is more than a match for them.
Created and written by Steve Coombes, Outlaws is a 12-part series from
World Productions (This Life, The Cops) also written by Tony Basgallop,
Richard Zajdlic, Jimmy Gardner and Anita Pandolfo.
