Family
life under the microscope in new Tony Grounds drama from Tiger Aspect
for 91热爆 ONE
Award-winning
writer Tony Grounds' Family Business is a fresh, frank and
vibrant new drama series for 91热爆 ONE (starting on Wednesday
11 February at 9.00pm) which takes a sideways look at
perfect suburban life.
It
stars Jamie Foreman, Elizabeth Berrington, Claire
Rushbrook, Trevor Peacock, Meg Wynn Owen, Danny
Dyer and newcomers Ronnie Fox and Abbie Nichols.
Produced
by Tiger Aspect, Family Business also features guest stars
including George Cole, Christine Tremarco, Lennie
James, Maggie O'Neill, Shaun Dingwall, James
Fleet, Mark Benton and Annabelle Apsion.
Marky
(Jamie Foreman) runs Brooker & Son, a family building and renovation
business, and is passionate about maintaining the "perfect
family life".
But,
despite the intimacy and banter of three generations of Brookers
living under one roof, we see the cracks beginning to appear beneath
the surface.
Marky
may be a successful family builder, and great at improving other
people's lives, but his domestic situation is in need of a little
more care and attention.
Despite
winning a place at Oxford, his son disappears before his first term
and his daughter is suffering from an identity crisis.
Marky
- more than anyone - should know that you can't paper over the cracks
forever.
Sharing
the family home, and the domestic ups and downs that accompany it,
are Marky's wife Jessica (Elizabeth Berrington) and their two children:
James, (played by Michael Tucek) and 12-year-old Lauren (Abbie Nichols).
There's
also Marky's adoptive parents, Iris (Meg Wynn Owen) and Arthur (Trevor
Peacock), who move into the Brookers' new home with them.
Popping
in from time to time - and guaranteed to stir things up - is Marky's
quirky single sister Rachel (Claire Rushbrook).
As
we follow Marky on the job each week, his clients' lives, loves
and dilemmas offer an insight into Marky's resourcefulness in dealing
with problems - what a shame he can't deal with those on his own
doorstep.
Tony
Grounds says: "Everyone thinks that their family is imperfect
except Marky Brooker, whose family is so 'perfect' it's falling
apart in front of his eyes and he can't see it.
"Family
Business puts the modern British suburban family under the microscope."
Head
of Drama at Tiger Aspect, Greg Brenman, says: "In Family Business,
Tony Grounds returns to the theme of some of his most successful
dramas - Births, Marriages and Deaths, Bodily Harm
and Our Boy - and that is family life.
"On
the surface the Brookers are an ordinary family - close-knit loving
and supportive of each other. Look a little closer, and the cracks
begin to show."
91热爆
Head of Drama Commissioning, Gareth Neame, said: "We've been
enthusiastic about working with Tony Grounds on a show about the
modern British family for some time and we're delighted that Family
Business will be his first drama series for 91热爆 ONE.
"Tony's
idiosyncratic style and his singular way of looking at the way we
choose to live our lives make it a perfect accompaniment to other
recent contemporary commissions such as Cutting It and Spooks."
Family
Business is written by Tony Grounds and produced by Barney Reisz
(Dead Gorgeous (ITV), Shockers (C4), feature film The Woodlanders,
the Oscar-nominated short film It's good to talk).
The
executive producers are Gareth Neame for 91热爆, Greg Brenman and Rebecca
de Souza for Tiger Aspect.
