Hollywood
superstar Russell Crowe talks films and fatherhood in Friday
Night with Jonathan Ross on Friday.
The
actor, in town for the premiere of his latest blockbuster movie
Master and Commander, is eagerly anticipating the birth of his son
in January.
"The
nursery is insane; it's either going to scare the shit out of him
or intrigue him," says Russell.
But
Russell hasn't come up with a name yet: "'I think we should
call him Doctor or Lord, just because it's funny."
He
and his family will divide their time between his farm and his city
home - "We'll have a balance between Sydney and the Bush. You
begin to see the world from a better, more realistic perspective
if your kid grows up in a rural area."
And
if he's nominated for an Oscar next year, he won't be going: "Nothing
has priority over the schedule for the birth of my son."
Crowe
also airs his views on the British press - "the bullshit that
your press can get away with... they are vile and revolting people...
I'm an easy target because I react honestly."
And
his views on the British press treatment of the Royal Family.
"It's
completely disrespectful... when it comes down to it I am a monarchist.
Elizabeth and her family should be respected," he says.
Jonathan
also welcomes to the show EastEnders star Jessie Wallace
and Crowe's Master and Commander co-star Paul Bettany, and
there's music from The Thrills.
