Radio
1 On the Road comes to Leeds
Radio
1 will be in Leeds as part of Radio 1 On The Road from Friday 6
until Sunday 8 June.
Chris
Moyles returns to his hometown to kick start a weekend of music,
events and live broadcasts from the Leeds Metropolitan University.
Joining
Chris will be his very special guests, Mis-teeq and unsigned
band Four Day Hombre performing live tracks.
This
is the second stop on the Radio 1 On The Road tour where the station
sets up a temporary home in a venue in the hometowns of some of
the station's DJs.
The
first stop saw Sara Cox, Mark Radcliffe and Marc Riley broadcasting
from the Life Bar Caf茅 in Bolton.
As
well as the music element the weekend will feature a series of off-air
activities with an opportunity for listeners in Leeds and the surrounding
areas to come and get free career and lifestyle advice from Radio
1's One Life and One Music teams.
Ian
Parkinson, Radio 1's Head of Specialist, Live Music and Speech Programming,
said: "This is an important new initiative for Radio 1 which
brings together exciting and entertaining on-air shows with our
award-wining social action and life skills teams off air.
"The
first event in Bolton was a great success and I'm sure Leeds will
be even better."
Chris
Moyles added: "I'm really looking forward to going back home.
I go back a lot for Leeds games, but haven't broadcast there for
a while now.
"I'm
looking forward to landing in Leeds with my Radio 1 team and causing
some trouble."
Joining
Chris Moyles in Leeds to present shows and take part throughout
the weekend will be Trevor Nelson, Bobby Friction and Nihal,
Colin Murray, Edith Bowman and the Sunday Surgery.
