  Bill Newton-Dunn MEP
Political Party : Liberal Democrat

Contact Address :
17 - 21 High Street, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire NG11 6DT

Fact File :
Bill Newton-Dunn shocked the political world in November 2000 when he defected from the Conservative party. He claimed William Hague had become 'intolerant' and 'hostile to Europe'. Prior to this he'd been fighting elections for more than a quarter of a century. After two failed attempts to become an MP in 1974 and 1979, he was elected to Europe in the 1979 elections as MEP for Lincolnshire. Prior to this he had worked for the Fisons chemical company. Work has even inspired him to write a political thriller set in the European Parliament.
