Skiffle band
Swinging Affair - soon to be seen on the streets of Nottingham

Shoppers in
Nottingham will have a little extra to listen to and see this Bank
Holiday.
A series of "street stars" will be performing around Forman
Street, home of the Cornerhouse, one of the city's main entertainment
areas.
The artists
were chosen after a series
of auditions.
When it came
down to the final selection performers had to show a panel of judges
just what they were capable of.
Among those
taking part were musicians, jugglers and a limbo dancer.
Steve Truman
was one of the successful applicants.
He's part of
a three-piece band, 'Swinging Affair,' specialising in skiffle style
music and is delighted to have been chosen to entertain the crowds
over the summer.

Steve said,
"I've been busking for years throughout the East Midlands and even
in Seville in Spain. This is a huge opportunity and I'm delighted
to have a guaranteed pitch in Nottingham."
A body artist
known only as Greg has also been chosen.
Although not
what you'd expect in an entertainment style-arena, Greg's confident
he'll offer something out of the ordinary.
"Temporary
body art is a great way to express yourself only limited by the
imagination. It's fantastic to give something back to the community."
Cornerhouse
Centre Manager, Suzanne Green explains the idea behind the street
stars: "We want to provide a Convent Garden-style atmosphere around
The Cornerhouse for guests this summer and so this was a great opportunity
for anyone with a talent.
I am really
impressed with the winners and look forward to seeing them at work
from May Bank Holiday onwards."
So more entertainment
for Nottingham city centre and not a bad job to grab.
The street stars
will work three hour shifts earning up to £40 every hour.
