The cosmopolitan
atmosphere of London's Covent Garden could soon be replicated
in Nottingham

The razzmatazz
of London's Covent Garden could soon have a rival here in Nottingham.
The city is looking for entertainers to brighten up the city centre.
To make sure
only the top performers are chosen a "pop idol" style
audition is about to take place.
The first "Street
Stars" audition will take place The Works nightclub at The
Cornerhouse today, Tuesday 23rd April - between 12pm and 3pm.
A grand final
is to be held on Friday 26th April at Jumpin' Jaks.
Those behind
the auditions are looking for 'Street Stars' to entertain crowds
at Nottingham's entertainment and leisure complex, The Cornerhouse.

Outside
the Cornerhouse is where the street performers will strut their
stuff |
The idea is
to create the Covent Garden-style atmosphere over the summer months
along Forman Street.
But those chosen
must have a genuine talent because, and wait for this, you'll be
paid a proper wage for performing.
Jugglers, jesters,
musicians, mime artists, statue or sword swallowers, or people who
just look like someone famous are all being asked to audition.
Those chosen
will work in three hour stints, entertaining from Thursdays to Sundays
and any bank holidays from May to September 2002.
Pay will be
about 拢40 per hour but technical equipment is not permitted for
any acts.
If you think
you've got the talent and want to give it a go you should call Fiona
or Kelly on 0115 941 7887 or fax on 0115 924 0991 to get more details.
Good luck.
