The above image is from a cell that a prisoner would have used in the 18th Century.
To the left of the cell is a demonstration of how a prisoner was hanged in this period.
At the Galleries of Justice you can experience the atmosphere of a prison from 300 years ago.
Shire Hall Shire Hall and the surrounding buildings in which the Galleries of Justice is housed, were in use from the 1700's up to the mid 1980's.
There has been a court on the site since 1375 and a prison since at least 1449.
