What is the Writers A-Z? It’s a place for you to tell us about yourself and your working techniques, showcase a bit of your work, and invite feedback. It doesn’t matter what kind of writing you do – we can accommodate poets, script writers, novelists and more besides. Interested? This is what we need from you… There are three main sections on each page in the Writers A-Z: - About the book*: Whether you’ve written a short story, a rhyme or a 3-hour play, we need you to summarise your work. Just a brief outline will do.
- About the author: Tell us about yourself, your writing experience and your connection with the county.
- The creative process: How did you come to write the piece? What was your inspiration? How did you go about constructing it? What or who were your influences? What tips do you have for others?
*We will, of course, change the wording according to the type of writing you submit. To hear or not to hear? In addition to the information listed above, you can either have a small extract of your work in writing, or else a link to an audio file. If it’s an audio file you’re after, we can arrange for you to come to 91Èȱ¬ Radio York to record it yourself, or one of our esteemed radio colleagues can voice it for you. Of course, if your work has already been published it’s likely we’ll encounter copyright problems, so we ask that only unpublished work is submitted to us and that you print and sign a copy of our contract. It’s nothing too heavy, but it is necessary. What next? Send us an email to register your interest and ask about anything you're unsure of and we'll take it from there! |
