Would you litter-pick whilst away on holiday if you were rewarded with treats?

Copenhagen's tourist board is hoping visitors will do just that.

It says tourists will be rewarded with free food and activities if they take part in environmentally friendly tasks while staying in Denmark's capital city.

The trial scheme starts 15 June and the green activities include things like litter picking, working in an urban garden and travelling by bike or public transport.

Rewards for doing these include things like free food, free entry to museums and free kayak rental.

The Copenhagen tourist board says the "CopenPay" scheme is a way of offsetting the environmental damage done by tourism.

"When you travel abroad - if you fly to other places or you travel by car - you pollute," says the tourist board's communications chief Rikke Holm Petersen.

"One of the things we can change is getting people to act more sustainably at the destination."
