Stormzy, the Soay lamb, made a shock appearance during the height of Storm Isha

A lamb born during Storm Isha has been named Stormzy after the UK rapper, singer and songwriter.

His keepers, Jamie and Michelle Mintram, run ARK Wildlife & Dinosaur Park at Stickney and said they found the rare Soay lamb cold and alone in a field out in the storm.

Staff had no idea Stormzy's mother was pregnant but believe she was probably frightened by the high winds and ran off.

The new-born lamb was a pleasant surprise for everyone at the park, as there are only about 900 breeding female Soay left.

When Stormzy was first found, the keepers were worried about his chances of surviving, but after a few days of bottle-feeding he is now doing much better.

Mr Mintram said: "We managed to get food into him."

"It was only a few grams to start with but as each feed went on he seemed to get more and more strength."

It is hoped Stormzy will be able to head back outside again in a month.

Stormzy isn't alone when it comes to celebrities inspiring animal names either. Check out some of these other awesome animals named after famous people...

This foal was named after Premier League footballer Kai Havertz, after being born at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon.

The charity decided to name the donkey after Havertz, after reading an article in which Kai said his teammates call him "donkey" because of his love of the sensitive and smart animals.

Kai Havertz said he was "delighted" to have a donkey named after him because they are "such incredible animals".

The aardvark named Dobby

Zookeepers at Chester Zoo were in a magical mood when they celebrated the birth of a baby aardvark for the first time in their 90-year history in January 2022.

The calf was named Dobby, after the Harry Potter character, because it reminded keepers of the popular elf.

It has large droopy ears, hairless wrinkled skin and giant claws.

Wonder if anyone bought it some socks for its birthday?

The name Rashford won, receiving 49.9% of the votes.
