At 5-1 down from the first leg, no team had ever turned round a four-goal deficit in the Champions League before. But the night started off well enough for Arsenal. Theo Walcott bagged an early goal and Gunners' hopes were briefly raised.
Things started going badly when defender Laurent Koscielny was sent off in the 53rd minute for bringing down Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, who got up to convert the penalty. A hard task, just got harder. The Gunners have now been knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage for seven successive seasons.
And from then on, things just got worse! Bayern scored four goals in 17 devastating minutes. The 10-2 aggregate defeat is the worst ever suffered by an English side in the Champions League. Oh dear!
Manager Arsene Wenger didn't look happy on the touchline, will he still be at Arsenal next season? Fans were calling for him to be sacked by the end of the game.
