Jersey health authorities want the island to get help for alcohol dependency earlier
One in ten people in Jersey are drinking dangerous levels of alcohol, a report has found.
The report on the health of islanders has been described as a stark reminder of Jersey's drinking culture.
It also found that 40% more men die of alcohol-related liver diseases than in England.
Dr Susan Turnbull, medical officer of health, said the States departments must work together to tackle the problem.
She said she wanted people to get help sooner rather than later.
The Health Profile looked at data from 2008 and 2009. Dr Turnbull said they would now be publishing health reports annually.
