People in Jersey could soon be able to select the island as their home on Facebook, according to a spokesperson for the social network.

At the moment islanders are not able to set Jersey as their home town or as the location of their event.

This was enabled for people living in Guernsey recently.

A Facebook spokesperson said: "From time to time we are alerted to oversights such as this in our mapping system."

They say engineers are currently investigating how best to ensure Jersey can be a location option on the platform in the future.
