Post helps Ceredigion's struggling homebuyers

  • Published

Rural homebuyers priced out of the market in mid Wales are being given a helping hand.

A role backed by Ceredigion council looks at ways to boost the supply of affordable housing through new developments or by bringing empty properties back into use.

Average house prices in the county are 拢185,000 compared to the Welsh average of 拢159,800.

Renting a two-bedroom property costs around 拢131 a week on average.

A spokesperson for Ceredigion council said: "With the ratio of house prices to income in the county currently seven to one, being able to afford to buy their own home in their local community is becoming more of a dream rather than reality for many people."

The scheme is backed by the Welsh government, Ceredigion council, Tai Ceredigion and Tai Cantref.
