Roads, public transport, walking and cycling routes in Wales are to have £15.4m worth of improvements.

Forty-one projects are set for a boost, with Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend and Caerphilly the only counties to miss out on money.

The Port Talbot to Swansea bus corridor will receive £1.5m for the Baglan energy park link bridge.

Meanwhile, £950,000 will be spent on the A493 between Pontbren and Nant y Gwenlli in Gwynedd.

Junction improvements in Newport Road and City Road in will Cardiff receive £937,000, while in Merthyr Tydfil £665,000 will go on walking and cycling links in the town.

The next stage of the Morfa distributor road scheme in Swansea gets £1.5m, while in mid Wales more than £500,000 will be spent on improving walking and cycling facilities along the Montgomery Canal and a bus interchange in Newtown.

The money is coming from the Welsh government's local transport fund to help deliver economic benefits and promote cycling and walking under the Active Travel Act 2013.

Transport Minister Edwina Hart said: "The projects selected will support the Welsh government's priorities for jobs and growth, by improving access to enterprise zones, and improving public transport to employment sites."
