In pictures: Wales' Paralympians in London 2012

Liz Johnson, 26, from Newport, and living in Bath, is competing in the S6, SB6 and SM6 swimming. She won gold in the women's SB6 100m breaststroke in Beijing, 10 days after her mother's death from cancer. This is her third Paralympic Games.

Rhiannon Henry, 25, from Bridgend, is representing Team GB in the S13, SB13 and SM13 swimming classes. She is competing in her third Paralympics. In Athens she won bronze in the 100m fly and the 400m freestyle, her preferred two events.

Nyree Kindred, 31, from Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf, is competing in the S6, SM6 and SB5 swimming. She won five medals, including gold in the 100m backstroke (S6) on her 24th birthday, at the Athens Paralympics. She was first selected for GB in 1999, aged 19.

Morgyn Peters, 16, from Cardiff, is competing in the S9 swimming. It is his first Paralympics Games but he has been involved in the Disability Sport Wales Academy programme since 2006. Rower Sam Scowen, 24, from Knighton, Powys, and living in Oxford, is competing in the TA mixed double scull. The duo qualified for London 2012 when they finished sixth at the Worlds in 2011. This is Sam's first Paralympics. She is a member of Dorney Boat Club whose home water is the Paralympic course at Eton Dorney.

Stephen Thomas, 35, from Bridgend, is competing in the sailing in a three-person crew. The team are keen to build on their previous Paralympic outings in Beijing and Athens where they finished sixth. The crew has just sailed to silver at the World Championships.

Paul Davies, 45, from North Cornelly, Bridgend is competing in table tennis class 1. He has a world ranking of nine, and won silver in the team event at the 2011 European Championships, where he also beat the 2009 Paralympic gold medallist.

Paul Karabardak, 26, from Swansea, is competing in table tennis class 7. He also represented Team GB at the Beijing Paralympics. He has won the British Championships three times.

Sara Head, 32, from Beddau, competes in ladies doubles in the table tennis. The current European Champion, she has represented Wales at two Commonwealth Games and described competing at London 2012 as the pinnacle of her sporting career.

Scott Robertson, 36, from Shotton on Deeside is competing in table tennis, class 5. London will be his fourth Paralympics. He has shown good form in the run-up to the Games, winning a bronze and gold at the Slovenia Open and a bronze at the 2011 Lignano Master Open in Italy. Rob Davies, 28, from Brecon, is competing in table tennis class 1. He is competing as a Paralympian for the first time at London 2012, although he went to Beijing as a young advocate. At the Bayreuth Open 2011 he helped win gold in the men's team event and a bronze in the singles. At the Slovakia open the team again won gold and he took silver in the singles.
