Law firm Aberdein Considine has expanded into a fifth Scottish city after completing a merger with Stirling-based Muirhead Buchanan.

The full-service legal firm now runs 19 offices across the country, including the cities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth.

Aberdein Considine will operate under the trading name of Muirhead Buchanan at Allan Park in Stirling.

The deal is the latest in a series of recent Scottish legal mergers.

In the summer, Law firm Harper Macleod announced a tie-up with solicitors Bird Semple to create one of Scotland's largest private client practices.

And in June, Thorntons said it was merging with leading Fife solicitors Murray Donald and Cupar legal firm Steel Eldridge Stewart.

Aberdein Considine managing partner Jacqueline Law said Muirhead Buchanan was a perfect fit for the law firm.

She said: "Traditionally, we have expanded through organic growth, but joining forces with a well-known firm allows us to hit the ground running in Stirling.

"The partners feel that this acquisition further demonstrates our commitment to providing legal, property and financial services across Scotland and will strengthen the services currently provided in our existing south offices - Perth, Bathgate, Livingston, Edinburgh and Glasgow."

Aberdein Considine, which has a turnover of £20m and more than 350 staff, was founded in Aberdeen in 1981.
