Mallorca Lee: Ultra Sonic DJ dies after short cancer battle

The frontman of a Scottish 90s dance music act has died weeks after receiving a terminal diagnosis.

DJ Mallorca Lee, 51, from Paisley, died on Sunday shortly after revealing on social media that he had cancer.

He founded the techno group Ultra Sonic in Ayrshire in 1991, and it went on to build a loyal following on the rave scene.

They made it into the UK Top 100 charts in the 90s with singles like Do you believe in Love? and Obsession.

Ultra Sonic's most recent single, Hardcore Will Never Die, was released in 2020.

"It is with tremendous sadness that I announce the sad passing on Sunday afternoon of legendary Scottish DJ, producer and long-time friend Mallorca Lee, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just four weeks ago," he said.

"You will be deeply missed, brother, but your energy and legacy will live on."

His family by posting simply: "We love you infinity, goodbye and safe trip".

Mallorca Lee on Facebook last month, saying: "The doctor said it could be a matter of months."

He added: "Love, that's all we ever really have, our one true currency, so tell the ones around you what they mean to you, every day."

The DJ is survived by his wife and two children.
