A train punctured by a fallen tree has caused delays and cancellations to rail services between Glasgow and Oban.

The 05:20 ScotRail service from Glasgow Queen Street hit the tree between Arrochar and Ardlui in Argyll.

Images showed the train had sustained puncture damage near the driver's cab. Engineers were dispatched to cut away the remaining logs.

ScotRail said the train would be taken away for further inspection. The line reopened at about 12:20 GMT.

The operator said some trains remained out of position and tickets would be accepted on local bus routes until the disruption eased.

ScotRail customer operations director, Phil Campbell, apologised to customers.

He said: "Anyone delayed by 30 minutes or more is entitled to claim compensation through our Delay Repay Guarantee."
